The development team at Mojang announces that it is working on a number of big changes for the world generator part of Minecraft, which includes the addition of new biomes for players to use and explore.

Jens Bergsten, who leads the development process on the indie hit, states, “One reason why we rarely do changes to the world generator is because every little change off-sets the world seed and causes noticeable borders between new and old terrain.”

Mojang is at the moment trying to introduce as many new features as possible in order to avoid making changes in the future.

More information about the design philosophy that Mojang is using is offered on the official blog.

Minecraft is a huge hit both on the PC and on the Xbox 360, and the development team is listening to the community and constantly delivering updates and new features.
