Microsoft has already confirmed that the Surface with Windows 8 Pro would be released in January 2013, but the company is still tight-lipped on the official launch date of the tablet.
Panos Panay, head of the Surface project at Microsoft, said in a short tweet that the Surface Pro is now in production and confirmed that a launch is very likely in the next couple of weeks.
“On my way to the factory to check out #Surface Pro coming off the line…arriving in the coming weeks,” he said.
According to our own sources, the Surface with Windows 8 Pro may be released on January 29, with sales to begin the next day. The device will be available in two different versions, a 64 GB model sold for $899 (€676) and a 128GB version with a price tag of $999 (€752).
