As I’ve reported to you yesterday, Microsoft is said to be working on the second-generation Surface tablet, which would comprise several important changes supposed to improve the experience with the device.

In addition to an Intel Core i5 chip, 7-hour battery life, 8GB of RAM and a similar look to the existing model, the new Surface Pro is also expected to adopt a new kickstand that would enhance the productivity side of the tablet.

Now Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrott confirms that the new integrated kickstand will feature two different positions, one of which is likely to be the one already offered on both the Surface RT and the Pro. The other one would probably allow the tablet to be used in portrait mode.

Pricing is very likely to stay in the same region as for the existing Surface Pro, so expect to pay about $899 (€681) for the entry-level model.
