As I’ve told you yesterday, a leaked build of Windows 8.1 Update 1 shows that users might be allowed to pin Metro apps to the taskbar, which could be the first step towards a more important change that would bring this kind of tools right on the desktop.

Now WinSuperSite reveals that Microsoft is working to bring even more improvements for Metro apps, including a close button, just like the one available in traditional desktop programs.

This way, Metro apps could be used on the desktop as well, giving desktop consumers more control with a keyboard and mouse.

It’s not yet clear whether this feature would be part of Windows 8.1 Update 1 or Microsoft plans to roll it out at a later date, but as we can all see in these leaked builds, the software giant is really keen on improving the Modern UI as soon as possible, so an April release makes sense.
