Microsoft has just released an iOS-exclusive application that allows users to track their favorite celebrities by using their iPhones or iPads.

Basically, the idea behind SNIPP3T is as simple as it could be: the application collects news, social activity, photos, videos, and other information, bringing everything on the main screen.

Basically, subscribing to a specific celebrity is no different from searching the web, because all you need to do is type the name and hit the search button. You can easily browse celebrity timelines and profile pages, but also connect with other fans and discuss story content.

The application was designed for iPhone 5, but it also works on iPads and iPods running iOS 7.0 or later. It’s obviously available free of charge and is currently offered to Apple customers too, and Microsoft hasn’t yet revealed whether it plans to release Android or Windows Phone versions anytime soon.

Probably the biggest question is why exactly the company decided to bring it on iOS instead of Windows Phone. Nobody can give an answer right now, but it’s hard to believe that many would actually keep using it since the App Store is already full of celebrity apps that help fans keep an eye on their idols using their iPhones.
