The Surface RT, Microsoft’s first tablet in history, went on sale in New Zealand today, while more countries are scheduled to receive the device in the coming weeks.

Kiwi users who wish to buy the Surface RT can find it at two different stores, namely Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi, as the device doesn’t seem to be available via Microsoft’s official website.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the Windows RT tablet is likely to hit the shelves in Japan by the end of the month, as Microsoft is now working to broaden the international availability of the device.

Mexico, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan will also get the new device in the coming months, according to a February announcement.

As for the Surface Pro, it’s also slated to go on sale in new markets in the near future, including China, France, Germany, New Zealand and the UK.
