Microsoft has just released Google Talk support for Outlook.com, trying to attract even more Gmail users to its new flagship email platform.

The new webmail service has implemented Google’s APIs to work with Google Talk, but at this point, only text conversations are supported. No video or audio calls are possible for the time being.

Microsoft has already promised to introduce even more updates in Outlook.com, especially because the company completely retired Hotmail, once its number one email service.

Frequent updates and new exciting features seem to be Microsoft’s very own way to please Hotmail users, as many of them have already expressed their frustration over the Outlook.com transition.

At this point, Microsoft claims that Outlook.com has 400 million active accounts, some of which came from its number one rival Gmail. It turns out that some Gmail users are actually impressed with the new Outlook.com, so expect these figures to grow in the coming months.
