Microsoft is again looking into a massive discount campaign for its partners, in another attempt to bring cheaper devices to the market and boost sales of its operating system.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, BusinessWeek writes that Microsoft’s new campaign is specifically aimed at Windows RT tablets, as the company has until now been disappointed with the early uptake of this particular OS version.

While the discounts are yet to be disclosed, Microsoft’s price cuts are expected to bring several more affordable tablets to the market, even though some world-renowned manufacturers have already expressed their intention to stay away from Windows RT.

At the same time, the tech giant is also working on a new set of improvements for the tablet-oriented operating system, with the Blue product update cycle set for this summer also expected to include major enhancements aimed at tablet users.
