New characters, maps, weapons and consumables are coming to the game's online mode

While I’m still very much enjoying Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode, for quite a lot of my friends the experience has been growing a bit stale, even if we’ve promoted most of our characters and have begun leveling them up all over again.

That’s why the announcement of the Resurgence Pack DLC for the online mode in Mass Effect 3 has been met with huge approval, largely because it will add some more variety to the content in the multiplayer.

Let’s talk about the things included in the upcoming add-on and highlight their importance.

First up are the new characters for the classes in the multiplayer. We have the Asari Justicar Adept, Krogan Battlemaster Vanguard, Batarian Soldier, Batarian Sentinel, Geth Engineer and Geth Infiltrator.

By far the most awaited, at least in our office, is the Krogan Vanguard, as we’ve already spent quite a lot of matches yelling “FOR TUCHANKA” while doing melee attacks on unsuspecting foes with the Krogan Sentinel and Soldier.

While we don’t exactly favor the Batarian and Geth characters, they’ll certainly provide a different kind of experience, and so will the Asari Justicar, even if there was already an Asari Adept in the standard multiplayer experience.

After the new characters, there are the new maps, Firebase Condor and Hydra. These two levels bring some much needed variety over the six maps included in the regular mode and, even if they look a bit dull, I’m looking forward to learning them inside out.

While the new weapons included in the DLC (Striker Assault Rifle, Kishock Harpoon Gun and Geth Plasma SMG) don’t sound that impressive, I’ll at least try them out in a few matches to see if they can replace my current lineup of favorites, from the Mantis to the Avenger, Shuriken, Geth Pulse Shotgun, or Phalanx.

Last up, there are some new consumables, in the form of the Strength Enhancer (perfect for Krogans), Targeting VI (perfect for non-Infiltrator classes that use snipers), Stabilization Module (for when you use less accurate weapons), and Shield Power Cells (for those open maps when you’re exposed to multiple threats).

Overall, considering the array of content included in Resurgence, and the fact that it’s completely free (provided you unlock them by buying equipment packs), makes the DLC a great gift from BioWare.

Look forward to its release tomorrow, April 10.
