Try to play as a team, not as an individual during online matches

I’ve played a lot of multiplayer matches in Mass Effect 3 and still enjoy it thanks to the weekend challenges that reward dedication and effort.

I’ve also shared quite a lot of tips with you, thanks to previous Gamer Diaries, but it seems that a lot of players who go online forget one crucial aspect of Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode: it’s a cooperative experience, not a competitive one.

This means that you all have to work together, not against each other.

You represent the best the galaxy has to offer and need to fight against enemies, ranging from Cerberus, to the Geth or Reapers.

You don’t need to fight among yourselves, trying to steal kills and leaving others to die while you rack up a bigger score.

Don’t forget that the overall amount of XP and credits are split between all players, no matter their actual performance.

I’m pretty good during matches, often coming out on top, but having the “audacity to do so” meant quite a lot of people ended up quitting the match and leaving the rest of us to fend off for ourselves during the last few waves, which are the hardest.

You need to work as a team and always remember that even if you don’t have the highest score, you’re a part of a bigger effort.

I’m not saying that you should take this cooperative nature to extremes, as I’ve also been paired, on just a couple of occasions, with players who just sit in cover throughout a match. They were more than happy to let me and the rest of the team actually survive in front of the enemies, while they racked up the XP and credits at the end.

Yes, winning is great. Yes, being the guy or gal with the highest score feels good, but don’t forget to act as a team instead of striving to show your superior skill in multiplayer matches.
