The Manjaro forums and wikis should be available again

The Manjaro developers have finally fixed the embarrassing problem they had with an expired SSL certificate that made accessing their forums and wiki much harder.

A few days ago, the Manjaro developer announced that they forgot to update the SSL certificate before expiring. This caused the wikis and the forums to become inaccessible, at least in the regular way. It might have gone unnoticed by the vast majority of users, or it would have been a minor inconvenience, but they gave a really poor solution to the problem.

The developers suggested in a blog post (edited now) to change the date of the system using a terminal command, with sudo (root). Leaving aside the solution, which seems to be taken from Microsoft's handbook of dealing with problems, it can also cause some serious problems with the operating system and various other packages that depend on the system time. The fact that this issue also landed on Reddit didn't really help.

The SSL certificate has been updated

Manjaro developers removed that ridiculous suggestion from the blog, and now they have also managed to update the SSL certificate, which means that things should go back to normal.

"Regarding the expired SSL certificate: Roland got a reminder on Mon, 23 Mar 2015 18:14:37 +0900 (JST) from GlobalSign. He also replied in time for extension. Sadly" we got no response from GlobalSign back then. Luckily today, I got mail with a new certificate code from GlobalSign. They will sponsor us a Wildcard SSL from now on. Also, we want to thank all our community members, who donated so far. These donations will finance us for another half year," wrote the developers on the official blog.
