In his defense, he was kind of wasted at the time

Just the other day, a man in the city of Nanjing in China's Jiangsu province needed urgent medical help after having accidentally eaten some liquid concrete.

He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors had to pump his stomach to recover the concrete and save his life. Luckily, they managed to get all the construction material out and the man is expected to make a full recovery.

As for how and why this man ended up eating concrete, this story is nothing if not mind-boggling. Apparently, the man somehow mistook it for sesame paste.

Being famished, he went ahead and ate some. By the time he figured out his snack was not exactly, well, edible, he had already gulped down some 250 grams (roughly 9 ounces). In his defense, he was severely inebriated at the time.

In an interview, the unidentified man explained that he came across the thick, liquid concrete while walking home from a local bar in Nanjing, his home city.

True, he didn't find the construction material in a bowl carefully placed on a beautifully ornate table, but in a bucket, Mirror tells us. Still, it looked so appetizing and he was so hungry and the man simply had to dig in.

Why he didn't cough it out after just one taste and went on eating for quite a while remains a mystery.
