The game pays tribute to the single player seen previously in the series

Pete Hines, a vice president at Bethesda, says that the decision not to add a multiplayer mode for Wolfenstein: New Order was made because the creative vision of developer MachineGames did not include it.

The publisher did not at any time force them to change their minds.

He tells Eurogamer that, "If you look at The Chronicles of Riddick or you look at The Darkness, those games have a creative element to them that is similar to the things they’re doing in Wolfenstein and that’s what attracted us to them."

Bethesda also has no plans to find another team that can create a multiplayer mode for the game.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is set to launch before the end of 2013 and will be offered on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and current-gen consoles.
