After much anticipation

After several announced delays, it looks like MSI's Wind with 6-cell battery has been made available for purchase. This means that all those users who have so patiently waited until now for the upgrade will finally have the chance to purchase their favorite netbook with a battery that can provide them with a more than decent working time.

Since the release of the first MSI Wind, earlier this year, users have constantly complained about the 2-hour lifetime of the netbook's 3-cell battery. Despite being one of the most appreciated products of its kind on the market, MSI's Wind has probably lost a significant number of potential customers due to the lack of a better battery option. On the other hand, one of the company's main competitors, ASUS, was quick to provide such an upgrade for most of its Eee PCs, which, in turn, probably prompted more than a few MSI fans to go to the competition for its better offer.

Nevertheless, if you aren't among those who have grown tired of waiting for the 6-cell-equipped Wind, than you should head on to Newegg, where the MSI Wind running on a 6-cell Lithium Ion battery is now available for shipping. With the battery upgrade, the small 10-inch netbook weighs in at 2.6 lbs, and will cost you a good $549.99.

For this price tag, you will get a netbook that runs on a Windows XP Home operating system, and provides 1GB of DDR2 memory. As far as storage is concerned, the netbook is equipped with an 80GB hard drive but, as we already informed you yesterday, 120GB models with 6-cell batteries should become available very soon.

As with most of the other netbooks on the market, the MSI Wind is powered by an Intel Atom N270 processor, and supports 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth connectivity. The Taiwanese manufacturer first released the 10-inch model, but will soon begin to ship a 9-inch model as well, which was just recently announced.
