Those who cannot afford any of the recently discounted $200 (150 EUR) tablets will be happy to know that MIPS has just announced the first Ice Cream Sandwich tablet, which will be available for purchase for under $100 (75 EUR).

Although the tablet is now out in Japan, the company confirmed plans to bring the slate in the United States and other regions soon.

MIPS Ice Cream Sandwich tablet comes with a 7-inch tablet and is equipped with a MIPS-based XBurst processor clocked at 1 GHz (no word if it’s single or dual core).

In addition, the tablet is expected to be delivered with 3D graphics courtesy to a Vivante GC860 graphics processing unit, which will support 1080p video decoding.

According to the folks over at Slashgear, MIPS plans to launch 8-inch and 9-inch versions as well, with the same features: Wi-Fi and HDMI 1.3 support, along with USB and microSD card slot.
