Today, Microsoft Mobile has taken the wraps off Lumia 530, long rumored to arrive on shelves as the cheapest Windows Phone 8.1 device in the Lumia series.

Building on the success of Lumia 520 last year, the new mobile phone will arrive on shelves in August this year with entry-level hardware specs packed inside, as well as with a very affordable price tag attached to it.

To be more precise, Microsoft has revealed that the new device will cost €85 ($114) before taxes and subsidies. One way or the other, users should be able to grab the phone for less than €100 ($135) when it goes up for purchase.

The new Lumia 530 will be released in both single- and dual-SIM flavors, which should make it highly popular on emerging markets out there, where devices that can accommodate more SIM cards simultaneously are the most sought for.

Both smartphone variants will arrive around the world in bright orange, bright green, white, and dark grey color versions, with support for 3G networks out there.

Just as some of the latest reports on this phone have suggested, Lumia 530 sports a 4-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering an FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution, while being powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor.

The mobile phone features 512MB of RAM, along with 4GB of internal memory, but also packs a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage space.

On the back, it has a 5-megapixel camera with a 1/4 inch sensor, but no front camera for video calling has been included in the package.

The usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS receiver capabilities have been included in the phone as well, along with a battery that can deliver up to 10 hours of talk time on 3G networks.

Running under Windows Phone 8.1, the new mobile phone will also provide users with the entire set of features and capabilities included in the OS, such as Action Center, Word Flow, Cortana (where available) and personalized Start screen backgrounds, Microsoft notes.

Moreover, Lumia 530 arrives on the market with various specific applications loaded on top, such as Creative Studio, GlamMe, and Cinemagraph, as well as with sharing and social networking software, including Instagram, Skype, WhatsApp, and Viber.

“We are moving quickly to help more people experience the uncompromised Lumia technologies, third party apps, and Microsoft services that we deliver on our flagship products,” says Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Devices Group, Jo Harlow.

“Lumia 530 underscores our commitment to making affordable smartphones for everyone, and introducing more people to the best of Microsoft.”
