A new series of leaked slides that compare AMD's upcoming Llano performance to that of a quad-core Sandy Bridge processor have made their way onto the Web, revealing additional details regarding what we should expect from the company's future APUs.

The slides pretty much follow the Llano demonstration video released by AMD just the last week, but also disclose additional information about the performance of the two processors, and their integrated graphics, in some popular games.

Just as before, the slides compare the performances of a 1.8GHz AMD A8-3510MX APU (based on the Llano architecture) to that of a 2GHz Intel Core i7-2630QM processor.

Both CPUs have Turbo turned on and are paired with 4GB of dual-channel (2x2GB) DDR3-1333MHz memory.

Taking a look at the results provided by AMD, it becomes clear that the Radeon HD 6620M on-die GPU, that is used to power the AMD A8 chip, is a great deal more powerful than the Intel HD 3000 unit used in the Sandy Bridge processors.

Considering AMD's position in the discrete graphics market, the news won't certainly surprise anybody, but Llano may as well mark a turning point in the history of integrated graphics as it will finally enable casual gaming without requiring a dedicated GPU to be installed in the system.

AMD's Llano APU uses the company's Stars processor architecture (found in Phenom II and Athlon II chips) with a few enhancements, and pairs it together with a DirectX 11 compatible on-die GPU which features six SIMD engines with 80 stream processors each.

Among the most important CPU enhancements brought to its design is the addition of an integrated PCIe 2.0 controller as well as Turbo Core sand 1600MHz memory support.

The first chips based on this new architecture are expected to arrive as early as May, according to the latest rumors. (via Vozforums)
