Dubbed Katya and based on the newly released Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) operating system, Linux Mint 11 will feature Linux kernel 2.6.38, GNOME 2.32.1 and X.Org 7.6. Unity will NOT be included in Linux Mint 11.

New in Linux Mint 11 is the LibreOffice software, which replaces OpenOffice.org as the default office suite. Banshee is now the defaul media player, replacing Rhythmbox.

Moreover, F-Spot has been finally replaced by gThumb, as the default photo application, and Gwibber is no longer installed by default.

Linux Mint 11 doesn't bring a new look and feel for its users. The desktop uses the traditional Linux Mint layout, the mintMenu menu and the same old desktop elements seen in previous releases.
