Video game developer d3t and publisher Sony are announcing that they are working on a video game called Lemmings Touch, which is set to be launched on the PlayStation Vita handheld.

The team is using the core mechanics of the mobile version of the game and is adding a range of new control options that are linked to the extensive touch capabilities of the handheld.

The experience will include 100 levels, each with their own challenges and choices.

The creators of Lemmings Touch state on the PS Blog that the new objects included in the game are, “cannons and trampolines that you need to aim by touching and manipulating them on-screen, platforms you can slide to transport Lemmings, objects you can lift up and down to create new paths, and buttons that Lemmings have to press to bring other areas of the levels into play.”

The fact that gamers can touch objects directly has also led the team to create new environments.

Lemmings Touch does not yet have an official launch date.
