The award-winning anti-spyware solution AdAware receives a major new version that is expected to be more efficient and even more powerful than the previous releases. As you probably know, AdAware is developed by Lavasoft, a company that managed to attract media's attention with several software hits such as AdAware SE Personal and Lavasoft Personal Firewall. The company was founded in 1999 in Germany by Nicolas Stark and is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden since 2002. Obviously, the top product of the company AdAware managed to bring the security firm in the spotlights as it is now installed on approximately 250 million of computers.

Today is probably the most important moment in the history of the company as the long-awaited AdAware 2007 will be rolled out in three flavors: Pro, Plus and the lovely Free version. As expected, the features are different from version to version so, if you want to benefit from all the functions of this great tool, you should buy the Pro edition. Just as a simple notice, you should know that AdWare 2007 Pro contains four features that are not bundled in any of the other releases: advanced command line support, ad-watch connect, process watch module and network drive scanning. In comparison with the Pro version, the Free edition has only the basic functions such as threat updates, advanced CSI technology, full-feature quarantine and system restore point.

The AdAware 2007 comes with an impressive set of new features starting with a redesigned engine and ending with an eye-candy interface. Also, you may also benefit from the TrackSweep function that allows users to erase the tracks left by browsers and other tools as well as from the improved update engine that brings the latest threat updates straight on your computer.

I don't think that the system requirements are a problem for any of you, but let me mention some of them: Pentium 600 MHz or faster, Windows XP (Home or Pro), Windows Server 2003 or at least a station with Windows 2000.

Now, let's go further to application that is famous for its incredible functionality and efficiency to block most of the threats discovered on your computer. At the first look, AdAware 2007 is quite easy to use, most of the functions being intuitive and placed in a clean interface. As you can see in the pictures placed at the bottom of the article, the menus are providing you instant access to most of the program's functions so I don't think it would be a problem to benefit from the features of the tool.

As far I can see, the program is quite quick when it comes to scanning the computer for spyware and similar threats. Obviously, it depends on the size of your hard-disks so don't be too harsh if it takes a little bit longer than you expect. For example, a basic scan for a 80GB hard-disk took approximately 2 minutes and 19 seconds, so the folks from Lavasoft really managed to bundle high-efficiency with impressive scanning speed.

The only thing that might disappoint you is represented by the pop-up messages displayed in the freeware version that inform you on the unavailability of a certain feature. For example, clicking on Ad-Watch informs you that you need Plus or Pro versions to use the function.

Softpedia is the first website that allows you to download this latest version of AdAware so if you want to take it now, click on this link.
