Since Google Glass is bound to become popular, everyone wants their turn

Head-mounted displays are not a new idea, and several patents exist for them, or components used in them.

Google's Glass is the most obvious implementation of the concept, and the one closest to availability.

It can't do everything though. While it can accomplish various things, it cannot do what LG has just patented.

The company has submitted a filing with the USPTO (US Patent and Trademark Office) for a glasses-type display that is turned off when watching a tablet or anything else with a screen.

When moving the eyes away, however, the HMD (head-mounted display) turns on and automatically fades into view the same content as on the device that was being watched.

The contraption will buzz when displays switch and the transitional pause should be minimal.

If nothing else, this will make for an all-new 3D video implementation.
