Recent information on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning focused on the action side of the game but the developers are saying that there’s a full blown role playing set of mechanics under the action friendly exterior.

Collin Campbell, who is the world designer working on the game at 38 Studios, spoke to Ausgamers and said, “We have people working on this game that are huge RPG fans – I’m one myself, so we wouldn’t want to make a game that isn’t an awesome RPG and the best in the genre.”

He added, “Also, we’ve worked hard to implement all the crafting systems, the destiny system where you can choose your path. There’s abilities, there’s talent trees and of course there’s RPG combat – but it’s amazing RPG combat.”

The developer says that all the mechanics are linked together and with the game world to make sure that players translate seamlessly between them.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be launched on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC during February 2012.
