MegaUpload's Kim Dotcom has been very talkative lately. Granted, he's never been a shy person, but since he was allowed to use the internet again, a few months ago, he's been very active on Twitter.

Most recently, he tweeted about plans for a new MegaUpload, a new service that would be even bigger and better than the first time.

In his most recent tweeting binge, he expressed his hope that the new Mega would be live by Christmas this year.

"I am working 24/7 with lawyers, developers, designers, investors & partners so that Santa can bring you the 'ultimate' Mega," he said.

Of course, saying something and actually doing it are quite different things. Any number of things could happen to stop this from being a reality.

But his tweets uncovered something even more interesting, he said he still has access to some MegaUpload data, the user database at the very least.

Talking about the new and still somewhat mysterious new service, Dotcom promised that premium MegaUpload users would be getting their premium status transferred to the new site. That's a nice gesture but a meaningless one without the user data for the old site.

"All premium users of Megaupload will have their premium status transferred to the new Mega, with a bonus on top," he tweeted.

"'@KimDotcom I thought all data was seized by US authorities. How will it be possible to restore ?' We have the database ;-)," Dotcom replied to one of his followers.

That sounds awfully interesting. Dotcom and public interest groups have been fighting the US government to try to uncover the data that was still being stored by MegaUpload's hosting company but which the US authorities wanted destroyed. Yet it seems that at least some of the data is still in the hands of Kim Dotcom.

Maybe there were backups, maybe Dotcom knows something we don't, or maybe he's just hoping to get the data in time for his new site, whenever it may launch. We'll find out sooner or later.
