Ken Levine, the leader of the Irrational Games development team, says that the next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft are very similar to a PC in terms of architecture and the competition between them will be decided by the quality of the games released.

He tells Eurogamer that, “It’s about wherever you want to game and having your experience. I’m not just saying playing an iPhone game, I’m saying having your game – your big, hardcore game – playing on whatever screen you wanted.”

Levine says that the future of gaming will be dominated by player-driven experiences, where the teams offer a sandbox that gamers are able to customize as they see fit.

Irrational Games does not yet have an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 title in development.

They are at the moment busy creating the Burial at Sea DLC for BioShock Infinite, which will take players to Rapture.
