Video game hardware maker Sony has announced that it has delivered to the Japanese National Institute of Technology and Evaluation, for an assessment process, 31 cases for its PlayStation Vita console that were damaged during the charging process.

Sony says that 23 examples of devices damaged during charging are from Japan and 8 from other territories, and the company underlined that no one was hurt and that no devices actually caught fire.

The company also says that the manufacturing process for the Vita is not to blame and that all involved users have admitted that they got liquids on the charger head.

Regardless, Sony is submitting to the Japanese National Institute of Technology and Evaluation process in order to show the public that it has nothing to fear from the Vita.

The device has had a slower than expected start on all markets, but Sony stated it is happy with its sales performance.
