The Japanese hardware chart has been again dominated by the Nintendo 3DS, while the new launch Tokyo Jungle managed to take over the first position in the video game chart, but the big news is that the new PlayStation Vita handheld has managed to pass the older PSP in terms of sales.

The Nintendo 3DS has sold 64,875 units for the week that ended on June 10 on the core Japanese market, significantly down from the 101,075 that it managed during the previous seven-day period, to keep its number one position.

The PlayStation 3 from Sony is the best performing home console, with overall sales of 15,593, a slight increase over the 14,799 that it managed before, and the hardware maker must be proud to see the PlayStation Vita move to the last place on the podium, managing to deliver 13,383 devices to gamers, a significant increase when compared to the 7,551 it managed during the previous week.

The PSP is still going strong and selling more than 10,000 units while the Nintendo Wii continues its struggle, even if it has increased sales from 5,825 to 6,029.

The PlayStation 2 has managed to sell more than the Xbox 360 and the older DS versions from Nintendo.

When it comes to video games the best performer of the week was a new entry from Sony Computer Entertainment, Tokyo Jungle, which has sold 110,309 copies during its first week on sale on the PlayStation 3.

Second place went to Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry no Wonderland 3D from Square Enix for the 3DS, with overall sales of 83,329 while the third position belongs to Kidou Senshi Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny from Namco Bandai for the PlayStation Vita, with 40,297 copies delivered to players.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Dragon's Dogma, Mario Tennis Open, Mario Party 9, Super Mario Land 3D, Storm Lover Kai!!, Fire Emblem: Awakening and Mario Kart 7.
