Huawei has finally decided to continue the rollout of the highly anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update for Ascend P6. For those unaware, the handset maker kicked off the deployment of the upgrade back in March, but it was only available in China.

The Ascend P6 was launched on the market exactly one year ago with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but Huawei promised that a KitKat update would eventually be available for download at some point.

True to its promise, the Chinese company delivered the said upgrade back in March, but only in China. The good news is that, according to Dutch website Droidapp.nl, the long-awaited update has finally arrived in Western Europe.

There are lots of new features and improvements included in the update, aside from those that usually come with Android 4.4 KitKat directly from Google.

Huawei Ascend P6 owners should expect lots of under the hood enhancements as well, which are meant to improve their overall experience with the smartphone.

Keep in mind that the update is pretty large at 789MB, so you might want to download it via Wi-Fi rather than using your operator's 3G network.

The update will bring the phone's software version to Android 4.4 KitKat, while Huawei Emotion UI 1.6 will be upgraded to version 2.3.

According to the official changelog, there are lots of new features included in the update, such as the new filters for the camera to beautify photos taken, as well as the brand new watermark mode added to the camera so users can add watermarks to photos.

Huawei has also added a new Phone Manager, which is said to provide features such as performance boost, file cleanup, harassment filtering and power management.

The update is supposed to include some optimizations for various features already existent in the Ascend P6. For example, when you enter the correct password, the phone will unlock without having to touch the OK key.

After the update is applied, every incoming message will turn on the phone's lock screen. If you slide on the unread message or missed call icon on the lock screen, you will be able to view its details.

Lots of other improvements have been included in the update, but Huawei only mentioned the most important ones in the official changelog.

Keep in mind that while the update is now rolling out in Western Europe, we expect it to be available in other regions pretty soon. We will keep an eye out for any additional details on the availability of the update in other countries, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
