Bring back the sparkle and shine to your countenance

Given the stress of daily life and all those all-nighters that we often pull, dark circles are a problem that most of us have to deal with. Even so, truly “dealing” with them is something that still eludes us, in that we can never seem to be able to find the best way to completely eliminate them, and regain our once so fresh and youthful complexion. As it happens, the remedies against dark circles and puffy eyes are at hand – right in our homes, actually – and the secret is to moisturize, cool and stimulate the skin.

Even though seeing a female character in a movie with cucumber slices on her eyes still gets a few laughs now and then, maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to poke fun at what is known to be the best solution to cool off tired eyes, and ultimately eliminate dark circles. If the skin is properly moisturized beforehand with a special face cream (which has a dehydrating effect), and then cucumber slices are applied to it, years of experience tell us that you will most certainly wake up next morning looking like your former self, fresh and with no signs of tiredness whatsoever.

If there are no cucumbers to be had in your home, fret not, because alternatives are also available. Tea bags soaked in cold water have the same refreshing and rejuvenating effect, as crushed mint leaves also do. In addition to these, rose-water or peanut oil – and countless women can vouch for their effects – had been used for many, many years, before the industry of cosmetics became as advanced as it is today.

As for the last step towards getting your fresh countenance back, stimulation of the skin too can be accomplished easily. What you need, again, are things that you can find around the house, like a good face cream or, if not, peanut or almond oil, which have to be massaged gently into the skin. Do not press too hard, because more firm gestures will not bring about more striking results. The idea is to relax the skin, so be as gentle as you can.

While commercials keep telling us to give technology a chance, by buying who knows what expensive product, when it comes strictly to cosmetics, this is, maybe, just the right moment to turn to what we’ve known for years, but have almost forgot in the meantime. Home remedies for dark circles may not be certified, like all those face creams are. Nonetheless, they do work.
