Good news for BlackBerry users who are worried that their BBM conversations are not secure enough from prying eyes, as developer Hike has just released its instant messenger app on BlackBerry World.

Hike Messenger is now available for BlackBerry 10 devices and it’s free of charge, so even if you don’t like switching to other IMs all of a sudden, you might want to give this one a try.

Here are some features that would probably make BlackBerry users at least curious about Hike Messenger. First of all, the application allows users to choose who can see when they were last time online, as well as their profile picture.

Those running WhatsApp already know about this privacy feature, so you won’t have to worry about this aspect if you decide to start using Hike Messenger.

BBM users are probably all hyped up on the stickers that BlackBerry releases every once in a while, but Hike Messenger has them to, so you won’t have to give up on the pleasure of sending stickers to your friends.

But here is something that other IMs are less likely to have included among their main features. Hike Messenger allows users to have 2-way themes, which means that when they change the chat theme, it will change for their friends too. This comes in handy for when you want to share your mood with your friends and family.

And the best part is yet to come. Lo and behold, Hike Messenger can send messages to your friends even if they are offline. How is this possible? Simple, Hike has been designed to send your messages as an SMS to your friends, at no cost to you.

As soon as they reply, you will simply receive the message in the application. Users in India will be overjoyed to know that the developers are offering free Hike to non-Hike SMS, so if your friends are not using Hike Messenger, you can still message them, assuming they are located in India.

Security freaks shouldn’t worry too much about privacy, as messages on Hike Messenger are encrypted over Wi-Fi using 128-bit SSL encryption.

With Hike Messenger, users will be able to share photos, videos, location, contacts, walkie-talkie messages and more, easy and fast. You can also create group chats, just like in any other respectable instant messenger.

But you don’t have to take our word for it, as you can now download Hike Messenger for BlackBerry 10 for free via BlackBerry World. The application should be fully compatible with BlackBerry Z3, Z10, Z30 and Porsche Design P9982.
