“Hey Cortana” is one of the features that will debut in Windows Phone once the Lumia Denim firmware update goes live for all phones across the world, and although pretty much everyone expects this option, it appears that not all devices will get it.

In a short tweet posted today, Twitter user @Nawzil8 revealed that “Hey Cortana” would require at least a Snapdragon 800 processor, which means that older Windows Phone 8.1 handsets won't be able to use it.

For example, the Lumia 630 won't get it, as it comes with a Snapdragon 400 chip, so “Hey Cortana” might actually be available on newer and flagship devices exclusively.

“Hey Cortana” is a feature that will be included in the Lumia Denim firmware update that's going to roll out to devices by the end of the year. It will basically allow users to launch the personal assistant by simply saying “Hey Cortana,” no matter if the phone is locked or not.

Of course, this would really come in handy to those using Cortana on a regular basis, and given the fact that Microsoft makes the personal assistant available in more countries across the globe, its potential is obviously increasing.

Lumia Denim should launch by December 31, but according to sources, Microsoft is already giving the final touches to the update and could release it in the coming weeks.
