For $349.99 on contract

Wireless carrier Sprint announced not too long ago that it plans on launching on its airwaves the high-end HTC Touch Pro2, the Taiwanese phone maker’s Windows Mobile-powered flagship device. Starting today, September 8, 2009, Sprint subscribers can purchase the mobile phone from the carrier's website, where it sports a price tag of $349.99 upon the signing of a 2-year contract agreement and after $100 mail-in rebate.

The specifications list of Touch Pro2 show that users will get one of the most attractive handsets available on the market today. It sports a 3.6-inch touchscreen tilt display that boasts a WVGA (480 X 800 pixel) resolution and which is coupled with a 5-row full QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, dual speakers and microphones, HTC's Straight Talk Technology, a wide range of connectivity options or memory card slot for additional storage space.

The new Windows Mobile-based handset measures 4.56 x 2.33 x 0.68 inches and weighs 6.3 oz. It includes a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery that can offer up to 4 hours of continuous talk time, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, WiFi 802.11 b/g capabilities, built-in GPS receiver, support for EVDO Rev. A, Instant Messaging, SMS Text Messaging and email support, accelerometer and proximity sensors, and others more.

The handset comes to the market running under Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, yet it has already been announced to be eligible to an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5, the next flavor of the OS, which should become available starting October 6. Users will be able to enjoy all f the Windows Mobile software solutions the platform comes with, including Internet Explorer Mobile or mobile versions of Microsoft Applications.

Sprint's subscribers will also get Facebook integration with this device and, as soon as Windows Mobile 6.5 becomes available, a series of services from Microsoft, including MyPhone or the Windows Marketplace for Mobile. A series of Sprint services are also available on the phone, such as Sprint TV, NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile, NFL Mobile Live access or Sprint Music Store.
