Yesterday, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation officially unveiled a new flagship Android-based device, in the form of HTC One M8, but it appears that the company is already working on new versions of the device.

According to a tweet coming from infamous tipster @evleaks, HTC will also bring to the market an HTC One M8 mini model sometime in the not too distant future.

No specific info on the device has been provided as of now, but we might see it released with a smaller body when compared to the M8, as well as with lower hardware specs packed inside.

However, as PhoneArena notes, the phone should be larger than last year’s HTC One mini and might also pack the same aluminum body as the new 5-inch high-end phone.

Apparently, the device could pack a 4.5-inch 720p touchscreen display, while being powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, paired with 1GB of RAM.

The rumored specifications list of this smartphone also suggests that it could be released with 16GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, HTC One M8 mini could sport a 13-megapixel camera, most probably capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, if not 4K. The same as the new flagship, the mobile phone should pack a 5MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The upcoming mini version of HTC One M8 is also said to run under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, most probably with the Sense 6.0 UI loaded on top.

While no official confirmation on the existence of this smartphone has emerged as of now, chances are that HTC will announce it sooner rather than later.

What’s more interesting is that the Taiwanese company is also rumored to plan the launch of an HTC One M8 Ace device, one that could be launched as the successor of last year’s HTC One max.

Apparently, the leaker is not sure that such a large phone is actually being prepared at the moment, but the fact that a mini variant of One M8 is in the works suggests that HTC could bring an oversized model to shelves as well.

HTC One M8 is already available for purchase in some markets around the world and should reach over 100 countries by the end of April, HTC confirmed yesterday. Hopefully, specifics on the rest of the models in the series will emerge soon, so stay tuned.
