Guild Wars 2 has been in development at ArenaNet for some time, but it seems that the team working on the MMO is finally ready to share it with a larger group of players as part of an open beta stage.

Angel Leigh McCoy, who is a developer working on Guild Wars 2 at ArenaNet, has told Nevermet Press that, “Planning has begun for an Open Beta. It’s all extremely exciting, and the game is coming along smashingly.”

Technically an open beta for a game means that it is close to its actual launch date and McCoy has outed some fuel on that fire, adding, “It really is like magic when it all starts coming together and you see what an enormous accomplishment you’ve contributed to.”

Guild Wars 2 has been in closed beta since the middle of December 2011 and given that open betas tend to run for at the most about three months then it could be inferred that, barring any unforeseen catastrophes, the MMO role-playing game might be out during the summer season.
