It looks like we’re closer to an Android 5.0 reveal then we might think, as Google has already started to release a few teasers for its newest version of the operating system.

There have been lots of rumors indicating that the next version of Android will be named after a certain sweet whose name begins with the letter “L.” Lemon Meringue Pie was one of the designations that various source leaked a few months ago.

The reason was pretty simple, and that was the fact that most developers signed their bug reports with the LMP acronym that many though came from Lemon Meringue Pie.

However, given the fact that a previous version of Android was referred to as Key Lime Pie because devs were signing their reports with the KLP acronym and it turned out that Google decided to call it KitKat, we can’t rely on the fact that this won’t happen again.

The next name that is supposed to be given to Android 5.0 is Licorice. The new designation leaked via a Googler who tweeted the name in an attempt to increase the hype around the launch of the new version of the operating system.

Obviously, we can’t rely on this one either. The latest report claims that Android 5.0 will be called Lollipop and is based on a screenshot that shows an icon of the sweet.

All in all, it looks like we have a lots of options, but none seems to be the right answer. In order to emphasize how confusing this must be for Android fans who are anxiously waiting for the official unveil of the Android 5.0, Google has just released a hilarious teaser.

Oreo would make a very funny name for the next version of Android

Dubbed “Sweeeeet,” the tagline of the video seems to be pretty obvious in the fact that it teases the next version of Android: “There can only be one L. Coming soon.”

The half-minute teaser shows a casting for “5.0,” which brings together lots of sweets whose names begin with the letter “L.” We have the Lemon Meringue Pie, Lava Cake, Lady Finger, and even a Lemon Drop.

The only intruder seems to be Oreo, which is certainly not going to win the casting audition for Android 5.0. It would be very funny if it did though.

Curiously, the last moniker that’s been hinted for Android L, Lollipop, is missing from the teaser, which might point to the fact that Google has already decided the market designation for Android 5.0. We will surely know more later today, so stay tuned for additional details on the matter.
