Microsoft has just revealed that games published in the store bring back the biggest number of downloads, with entertainment and tools coming on the second and third place, respectively.

In a chart showing the number of downloads between August 1 and October 31, Microsoft shows that games recorded a little bit over 30 percent of all hits, while entertainment apps accounted for nearly 10 percent of all downloads.

“Over the last three months, Games was the category with highest number of downloads, 3x higher than the next most popular category. This shows that many users are looking for, and finding, games in the Windows Store. The next categories, Entertainment, Tools, Social, and Music are also very popular, showing a broad interest in these categories,” Microsoft said.

At this point, there are more than 130,000 apps available for download in the store, many of which are offered free of charge and provide support for both tablets and desktop computers.
