Galaxy S III, the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from Samsung, has registered increased interest during the pre-order period, reports suggest.

Apparently, a Samsung official let it slip that Galaxy S III pre-orders have racked up to 9 million roughly two weeks before the device goes official.

Korea Economic Daily reports that Samsung is currently pumping out 5 million Galaxy S III units each month, but that initial orders will exhaust two months’ production in no time.

Packing a quad-core Exynos application processor from Samsung, the new smartphone was put up for reservations around the world in markets that lack LTE connectivity.

There, it will arrive later this summer, most probably featuring a dual-core CPU from Qualcomm, to provide the best experience on 4G networks.

Galaxy S III is expected to prove a much better selling device than its predecessor, the Galaxy S II, which topped 3 million pre-ordered units last year and sold 20 million as of February this year.
