Will enable the building of apps targeted for the new device

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has just made available for download the source code for one their latest Android-based devices, namely the Samsung Galaxy Note.

The new device was unveiled to the world in early September during the IFA 2011 show in Berlin as the largest smartphone in the world, featuring a 5.3-inch touchscreen display.

The source code for the mobile phone was made available via Samsung's Open Source site here.

The handset comes to the market with support for taking handwritten notes while on the go, and the fact that its source code is now available for download should offer developers the possibility to come up with applications that target it.

At the same time, the availability of this source code will enable enthusiasts come up with custom ROMs for the mobile phone, for enhanced personalization options.
