Max Clifford, who was nominated as one of the main reasons for the initial success of the Grand Theft Auto series, says that he does not actually remember the launch stunt for the series, but that it represents something that he might be involved with.

Speaking to CVG, the Public Relations man states, “It was such a long time ago and we’ve done hundreds of things since then. I’m not being funny but I do fifty of these kinds of campaigns each year.”

“We’ve taken on controversial things over the years but we’ve turned down controversial things over the years. You have a look at it, you weigh it all up and you take it from there, and sometimes you work with people’s double-standards and hypocrisy,” he added.

It seems that stirring up a controversy around the GTA series when it was first launched was not something that Clifford would shy away from, as long as it managed to make the series a hit in terms of sales.

Initially, the GTA franchise was a top-down game that allowed the player to explore an open-world city and cause all kinds of mayhem, but also do missions and improve his equipment.

Since then, the game has shifted focus and has become a third-person title that mixes open-world exploration and deep narrative elements.

At the moment, Rockstar is working on Grand Theft Auto V, which is expected to arrive during 2013, presumably both on home console and on the PC.

The game is being written by Dan Houser and will take place in Los Santos in the San Andreas area.

The information offered by Rockstar in the new GTA is limited, but it seems that the game will be the biggest they have created and will include a narrative that focuses on wealth and its acquisition.
