Tetsuya Nomura, the game director working on Final Fantasy XV, says that his entire team is currently using the PC and DirectX 11 in order to develop the game.

At a later stage, Square Enix will evaluate all the capabilities of the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony in order to port as much of the experience to them as possible.

Nomura tells Famitsu, quoted by Polygon, that, “As a result, the original Final Fantasy XV runs on a pretty high-spec PC, and how close a console gets to this original depends on its specs.”

Final Fantasy XV started life as Versus XIII and is now an entirely different title, which will tell a new story that bears no relation to that of the rest of Fabula Nova Chrystallis.
