Square Enix has officially announced the launch of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for the PlayStation 4, launching on April 14, with a beta test starting on February 22.

Final Fantay XIV will be available in both standard and collector's edition, and pre-orders for both varieties will open on January 27.

Preorders for both versions will come with two in-game items, the Mog Cap & Caith Sith Doll minion, as well as offering the opportunity to take part in the Early Access starting April 11.

The limited collector's edition will also come with an art book, The Art of Eorzea: A Realm Reimagined, a music CD with The Sounds of Eorzea soundtrack, art cards, a themed security token, the Seventh Umbral Era Special Movie Content Disc – The Waning of the Sixth Sun, and additional in-game bonus items.

Players who already own a copy of the Final Fantasy XIV Collector' Edition or Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition, or who have made use of the digital Collector's Edition upgrade service, will automatically receive the Fat Chocobo Mount & Wind-up Moogle minion that will make their debut in the PlayStation 4 version for free.

PlayStation 4 owners will be offered the opportunity to join the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Test for free, making its debut on February 22.

Players who own the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will have the option to transfer their accounts to the PlayStation 4 system version free of charge, starting April 11. But once transferred, they will no longer be able to access the PlayStation 3 version, and in order to play both they would have to purchase the PlayStation 4 version separately.

Additional account transfers will be possible after the game lands, with more details to be announced.
