Developer and publisher Square Enix has revealed some more information about Final Fantasy XIII-2, the Japanese role playing game that is set to arrive in early December on the home market, including information on fan favorite chocobos and on how the weather system will influence the game experience.

Famitsu is reporting that chocobos can be used by players to get around the levels they have already explored, as long as the gamer has some gysahl greens on his character.

The creatures will also be offered as recruitable party members and there are races that can be set up in the casino areas.

It seems that a particular chocobo, which is an unusual red color, will be the subject of a side quest and might bring a valuable reward with it.

A vendor in the game also offers players a chance to buy a chocobo suit, something that the Final Fantasy series has long used as a mechanics for comic relief.

The weather is also set to play a bigger than ever role in the second true sequel of the franchise, with the monsters that appear and the music that plays when they are encountered shifting dynamically depending on the atmospheric conditions.

For example, the Archlyte Steppe players can experience weather systems including a sandstorm and a thunderstorm, each creating its own gaming space.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is set to address all the problems that long-term fans have had with the first game in the Fabulla Nova Chrystalis universe, with a better developed combat system and a more open story.

The action will focus on Serah, who is looking for her sister Lightining with the help of an unlikely cast of supporting characters.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be launched in the West, on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, during the first two months of 2012.
