Masato Kimura, one of the producers working on the upcoming The Evil Within, believes that it’s hard to scare modern gamers and that his team will have to create an immersive experience in order to revive the survival horror genre.

He tells IGN that, “we want you to identify with the protagonist, with the main character, we want you to feel what he feels. When he’s scared we want you to be scared. When he’s excited we want you to have the same feeling.”

Kimura believes that The Evil Within can deliver a new cocktail of features, under the leadership of Shinki Mikami, in order to satisfy both veterans of the genre and newcomers.

We have a full rundown of the features that will be included in The Evil Within, which is expected during 2014.
