The development team working on EverQuest Next at Sony Online Entertainment says that players will first get access to eight archetypes for their characters in the MMO before they can choose whatever mix of abilities they want.

The list includes, according to Joystiq: Rogue, Warrior, Tempest, Blademaster and Wizard, with three more set to be revealed soon.

The playable races included in EverQuest Next are the human, elf, ogre, dark elf, dwarf and kerran.

SOE is making sure that all combinations of skills and races will be instantly recognizable in the game by their posture and the way they are holding their specific weapons.

There will be no levels in EverQuest Online as the MMO will allow players to focus on whatever skill they are interested in and improve it individually.

The new MMO will be launched on the PC, probably in 2014, and will be preceded by a Landmark title that will allow gamers to create content for it.
