European users who purchased the latest Android-based flagship device from Samsung, namely the Galaxy S4, have found it to suffer from a rather annoying issue, namely swelling batteries.

No specific info on what is causing the problem has been provided, but Samsung is said to already be aware of the situation.

In fact, the company has started to provide a fix for the problem, in the form of free batteries to affected users.

According to Samsung, the issue is only an isolated one, and all should be resolved through simply replacing the faulty part.

“We are aware of this issue, which has affected a limited number of customers,” the mobile phone maker said in a statement, Trusted Reviews reports.

“We ask all affected customers to please visit their nearest Samsung Electronics service centre, where they can receive a replacement battery for free of charge. We remain committed to providing the best possible user experience for our customers.”

However, things appear to be a bit different, as the number of users that have complained about the issue reaches almost 30 percent of buyers, based on the number of returns reported by carriers last week.

Some of them report device overheating, while others claim severe battery drain. And, of course, there are also those who say that their device has started swelling.

Samsung Galaxy S4 comes to the market with a 2600mAh Lithium-Ion battery packed inside, which should be quite enough to meet heavy usage demands.

However, issues with the battery inside smartphones is not uncommon, though the fact that the problem appears to be affecting a large number of Galaxy S4 users might be concerning.

Hopefully, Samsung has already discovered the underlying issue, and the replacement batteries will prove better than the old ones. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
