Back to Dragon Age

Temperatures are rising again and that can only mean summer is close by. Which, in turn, leads to less videogames played and to more time spent outside, mostly with friends and cold beverages. And with less important titles launched in the coming months, it might be the time to turn back to the last six to nine months and take a look at what videogames I might like to play again in my spare time.

The obvious stand out is Dragon Age: Origins, the role playing game from BioWare launched during last fall, and its The Awakening expansion, which arrived in March.

It seems the people behind the game are done with putting out new content for now, which means it's a good time to go back and start it from the beginning with a different origin and class. There are signs pointing to a February 2011 launch date for a proper sequel to Dragon Age, so now is the perfect time to actually experience the first game again.

Given the fact that I am a completionist, the game world is pretty big and I actually plan to take the experience in smaller bites, this will probably take some time. I played the game as a backstabbing dual wielding Elf rogue, as a Magic user and as a straight up shield and sword human noble. I plan on experiencing the life of the Clan elf this time around but I might also be drawn in by the political complexities of a Dwarf Noble.

And, with a deep RPG taking up most of my time, I plan to lose some more energy and quite possibly some sleep to Neptune's Pride, the online free-to-play strategy title, which takes hours to move ships around and lets the player create tens of complex scenarios in their head in the meanwhile.
