Developer ZeniMax Online and publisher Bethesda surprised MMO fans when they announced that The Elder Scrolls Online was launching on both the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Now the team says that the title will have just one server on the Xbox One, and that there are no plans to introduce crossplay between the two consoles and the PC version.

A preview from The Official Xbox Magazine says that groups of players will be separated into so-called server phases based on their guild allegiance, their choice of in-game friends, and an initial MMO list of questions.

It's unclear whether players will be able to transfer between the various phases in The Elder Scrolls Online.

The MMO is expected to launch simultaneously on all platforms in the spring of next year.
