Apple has released iCloud Control Panel 3.1 for Windows, an updated version that provides an interface for your iCloud account on a Windows PC.

“iCloud keeps mail, contacts, and calendars up to date between your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Windows PC, and lets you share calendars and task lists,” says Apple.

For Windows users in particular, the Mac maker reveals that “iCloud also keeps your Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Google Chrome bookmarks on Windows in sync with your Safari bookmarks on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac.”

The cloud service also includes My Photo Stream, iCloud Photo Sharing, and others.

“With My Photo Stream, iCloud automatically downloads the photos you take with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your PC, — and any photos you add to My Photo Stream are automatically available on your other devices set up with iCloud,” Apple says on its Support site.

“You can also share photos and videos with just the people you choose, and invite friends to add their own photos, videos, and comments with iCloud Photo Sharing,” the company adds.

Users creating an iCloud account from scratch will need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later.

For accessing email, contacts, and calendars, Microsoft Outlook 2007 or later is required, or an up-to-date browser. In order to sync bookmarks with Firefox or Google Chrome, you need the iCloud Bookmarks extension.

iCloud Control Panel 3.1 works with Microsoft Windows 7 or 8, Internet Explorer 9 or later, Firefox 22 or later, or Google Chrome 28 or later.

Users upgrading from iCloud Control Panel 1.1 or earlier will need to sign out and uninstall the old version before downloading the new one. Download iCloud Control Panel 3.1 for Windows from Softpedia.
