Google is out with a new version of its popular web browser for iOS customers, addressing several bugs, including some security holes.

Google Chrome version 28.0.1500.16 is out today on the iTunes App Store with a patch for issues involving embedded video playback in iOS 5.1.

Even though you might not be experiencing any problems in this department, it’s still advisable to update, since the new version also includes “stability / security improvements and bug fixes” for all iOS versions and all iDevice models.

Google doesn’t say which security holes are plugged exactly, but if you’re the type who buys things online on your iPhone or iPad, it’s probably best to keep Chrome up to date with the latest security patches.

Chrome requires iOS 5.0 and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The browser displays natively on all devices.
