Media Applications Technologies Limited has beefed up the BBC’s iPlayer app for iPhone and iPad users improving playback quality and downloads, as well as AirPlay streaming.

BBC iPlayer 2.0.3 arrives today with improved playback quality and more reliable downloads, according to the release notes. And AirPlay users can now background the BBC iPlayer app and have their program still playing on their TV set.

The developers add, “As you've come to expect, there are many under the hood bug fixes thrown in to address multiple glitches and issues.” A new update is already in the works, the developers suggest.

BBC iPlayer requires any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad that is capable of running iOS 5.1 or later. The app is also optimized for iPhone 5.
