Here's a nice piece of news that will make a lot of Archos tablet owners happy: firmware version 4.0.6 is ready and they can upgrade their tablets.

The new firmware version brings fixes for some of the issues reported by owners and functional enhancements for a better user experience. It looks like some of the older troubles concerning the WiFi connectivity persisted from firmware version 4.0.4.

The previous release (4.0.5) brought fixes for occasional slow throughput of the wireless connection, and the actual version has expanded the fix list of scenarios in which the WiFi connection used to drop. At the same time, the current system software version comes with increased GPD stability, while the display section no longer proposes the overscan setting when TV supports underscan.

Firmware 4.0.6 also sports a more reliable card insertion detection and read/write permission management and promises to rid the owners of the random reboots when using applications demanding high CPU power.

You can now download the firmware 4.0.6 for your Archos 80 G9 or 101 G9 tablets.
